1. Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius is the most well-known of today’s hybrid cars. It has more sales than all other hybrids combined making it the best selling hybrid. Along with Bluetooth and GPS, the Prius has a lot of options available. It provides very good gas mileage.
2. Lexus HS250h
The list of top hybrids cars includes the Lexus HS250h. Because many people simply don’t like the look of the Prius, the Lexus hybrid looks like any other car. Which could be a big reason for its sales. Also, the HS250h, the first luxury SUV hybrid (selling for over $40,000), offers impressive interior styling and accessories and a lot more power than you’d expect in a hybrid.
3. Honda Insight
The Honda Insight is one of the top-selling true hybrids. The Insight looks a lot like the Prius. Like the typical low-cost hybrid at around $20,000, it also comes in a hatchback. With a simple instrument panel, not a lot of room and low on upgrades, you get what you pay for. But it does get excellent gas mileage.
4. Hyundai Sonata
Hyundai has a new hybrid, the Sonata, which is South Korean company’s first hybrid in America. It’s a mid-sized hybrid sedan that does not look like the Prius or Insight. 35 to 40 mpg is what it averages. It uses a lithium polymer battery, which is not common to the hybrid industry.
5. Toyota Camry Hybrid
The Camry hybrid is one of the most popular mid-sized hybrid sedans. It averages about 33 mpg.
6. Ford Fusion Hybrid
The Fusion hybrid is also one of the more popular mid-sized sedans. It averages 35 to 40 mpg.
7. Nissan LEAF
Nissan is presenting the new all-electric LEAF, scheduled to begin sales in December 2010 at around $32,000, but US tax credits reduce the price incredibly.
8. Chevrolet Volt
Chevrolet’s Volt is a plug-in but also runs on premium unleaded fuel, selling for around $41,000.
9. Honda CR-Z
The Honda CR-Z electric car is expected to become a top seller; sales began in August 2010. It averages about 35 mpg.
10. Toyota Highlander
The Toyota Highlander is another SUV hybrid, but sales are not matching the Prius.
Now offering hybrid cars, BMW comes with a price of over $90,000, so few sales will likely occur. The Cadillac Escalade comes in at around $60,000.
