I’m setting up a Mobile Car Valeting Company, How do I fill in my accounts for chemicals & petrol?

I am setting up a mobile car valeting company with my partner and I am slightly confused on how to fill in my account book. What columns do I put the chemicals in and how do I work out the values for the equiptment? Also how do I work out the petrol costs to & from the persons house.

First of all, you need to decide if you are going to be a sole trader business.
If so, at the end of each year the books that you produce must return to zero with no assets.

So, If you are sole trader, all of your expenses will be taken from the income (revenue) and the remainder is your profit.

However, if you are NOT sole Trader, you could erode the cost of your Van over say 3 years.. so you would reduce your revenue by your expenses and 1/3 of your van each year for 3 years.

If the van is soley used for the business then all of the associated costs can be used against the business.
