Ford Brings Us The Best Hybrid Car To Date
With the demise of the defunct Ford Taurus, there has been a gaping hole in Ford’s midsized line-up which Toyota and honda just love to see.The public is really starting to notice the Fusion’s new Hybrid power plant system in comparison to the original introduction in 2006. Ford officially released the Fusion Hybrid recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show late in 2008.The excellent in-town gas mileage is what makes the Ford Fusion Hybrid so unique.The Environemetal Protection Agency gives the Fusion a rating of 41 Miles Per Gallon which is much better than the Toyota Camry, and even better than the fuel efficient Civic Hybrid; all this from a medium sized hybrid car.The hybrid electric motor has the ability to power the Fusion up past 45 miles per hour without the help of the gas engine.There are a ton of Vehicle Magazines that have used these tactics to get much better gas savings than the EPA ratings.
New technology in the Hybrid allows the Fusion to teach drivers which driving style gets the best fuel economy.Ford has made a smart feature built into the gauge cluster called the Smart Gauge.there are 2 hybrid information displays, one on each side of the gauge cluster that give a nice readout.The first monitor will indicate just how much gas is left and also how much energy is left in the battery pack.The 2nd information monitor shows the tachometer and the electric mode function.This third gauge displays the output energy of the batteries and the engine.Additional power consumption and power to the wheels are shown in the last data screen.Knowledge centers in the Fusion have data that consists of Miles Per Gallon, fuel efficiency report, travel chart, and changes in radiator temperatures.Best fuel economy can be gauged through real time MPG information showing the driver which driving style is best.
Check the nav display to see the cool hybrid Energy Flow stuff. This display will track the 5 modes of the Fusion’s Hybrid Powertrain which are the; electric drive, hybrid drive, electric boost, idle charging, and regenerative breaking.
Pretty much all hybrids are considered Eco friendly but it is the Fusion that goes one step farther by using reclaimed fabric to make the interior.The Prius and the Civic Hybrid are two of the most popular cars out today, its about time Ford designed a hybrid car.
